Acumatica AddPurchaseOrderLine Tip

I couldn’t find this tip in the Acumatica Web Services T210 (v.4.2) or I210 (v5.3) training material so I thought I’d create a post about it. Ruslan Devyatko in Acumatica Support provided this to me. I used it successfully with Acumatica version 5.1. When creating a new Purchase Receipt using the Acumatica Screen-Based Web Services from an existing Purchase Order it’s necessary to “click” a button to get the Add Purchase Order Line dialog to pop-up. That’s documented in the I210 training,... Continue reading →

Finding the View in Web Apps

You can often accomplish customer requirements, such as hiding textboxes or other controls, in the Dynamics SL Web Apps by editing Views. Often, but not always, you can identify the view you need to edit by looking at the final segment of the URL in your browser’s address bar. Before going further, I should note that you can sometimes hide fields without any programming by using the Administration Access Rights web app. This app lets you select a user or group, then the... SendKeys doesn’t work in BSL customizations in Dynamics SL 2015

An upgraded BSL (Basic Script Language) customization that used SendKeys displayed System Message 10058 “Basic Script Language execution error 5 – Illegal function call” when the code reached the line with SendKeys in Dynamics SL 2015. SendKeys was used correctly and the customization worked fine in the previous version. It still appears in the BSL documentation for Dynamics SL 2015, but the interpreter calls it an “illegal function” now. The resolution, in this case, was to “upgrade” the customization to... Solomon Object Model Error 7579

This isn’t documented anywhere that I could find, so I thought I’d do that here. When running an application that used the Solomon Object Model (SOM) to automate a screen in Dynamics SL, I received Dynamics SL error 7579 when calling StartAppAndAutomate(). The function did not return a reference to the application. The problem was that the Microsoft.Dynamics.SL.ObjectModel.dll was not in the expected location, which is C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DynamicsSL. I copied it from the \SL\Applications\WRKSTN\Common folder to the... Continue reading →

Accessing Data with F# Type Providers

That’s the title of a Pluralsight course by Tomas Petricek that I happened to see under “Newest” this evening. It was published today! I started watching it and am really enjoying it. As the course begins, Tomas articulately makes a business case for using F#, drawn from his book F# Deep Dives. When I Googled it to double-check the title, the hyperlink was to the book on Jet.com, a new competitor to Amazon built with F#. I’d highly recommend the... Continue reading →

El Capitan and the Windows Phone

I’ve always enjoyed using the Windows Phone app on my Mac. IMHO it works better than the corresponding app on Windows. I upgraded my Mac to El Capitan this week and when I connected to the Windows Phone app over the weekend, it remained on the initial page stating “Connect your Windows Phone to continue”. Usually it starts syncing shortly after I connect. Not any more. I’m running the current version 3.1.1 (140416) and tried to connect using a Lumia... Continue reading →

Dynamics SL 2015 Customization Upgrade Gotcha

I had a great time attending the Dynamics SL User Group in San Antonio this week! Thanks to everyone who worked to hard to make it an informative and fun event!!! In an interactive session with SL developer legend, Tom Malia, he mentioned a gotcha while upgrading VBA customization code to version 2015. Tom said he had been frustrated and searched the internet to no avail for help with the issue. I ran into the same thing earlier myself and... Continue reading →

Mobile Apps Rule

So starts an eWeek news story, reporting that 90% of the time consumers spend in mobile is in apps, with the remaining 10% in browsers. Simon Khalaf, of Yahoo, wrote that mobile and its apps are the top media channel in America, eclipsing the desktop web in Q2 2011 and television in Q4 2014. “In Q2 2015 American consumers spent, on average, 3 hrs and 40 minutes per day on their mobile devices. That is a 35% increase in time... Continue reading →

Dynamics SL Application Server

I recently wrote a new SL SDK form intended to be launched by Dynamics SL Application Server. When selecting “Submit to Application Server” from the form’s menu, I got System Message 5601 “The targeted application… does not comply with the Application Server requirements and cannot be submitted to an Application Server for processing.” I was puzzled. The official documentation speaks of running “processes and reports” via the Application Server, but nothing more specific. The resolution for this is simple, really.... Continue reading →

Using the Syncfusion WPF SfDataGrid with F#

After adding the Syncfusion SfDataGrid to an F# WPF window I got a XamlParseException “Cannot create unknown type ‘{http://schemas.syncfusion.com/wpf}SfDataGrid” at runtime. I was able to resolve the error on my main window by changing the namespace from the one in the error message to: xmlns:sync=”clr-namespace:Syncfusion.UI.Xaml.Grid;assembly=Syncfusion.SfGrid.WPF” I found that version of the namespace here. Once I made the change to the main window, child windows containing the grid could use the default namespace reference without a runtime error. I’d also like to praise Syncfusion... Continue reading →
